Job Creation

Jobs for a bright future

Brightline West is focused on high-quality job creation to support construction of the first true high-speed rail system in America. The project will advance America’s high-speed rail industry, supporting thousands of good-paying union construction jobs and permanent jobs in operations and maintenance. To support labor needs, Brightline West plans to partner with educational institutions on pre-apprenticeship programs and other workforce pipelines.

JOB IMPACTS

  • High-Quality, Good-Paying Jobs – In partnership with unions and governed by project labor agreements, the project will directly create 10,000+ union construction jobs, most not requiring a college degree. Inclusive of jobs that go into materials production, transportation, and other key elements to constructing the system, the project will support more than 35,000 jobs across the construction period. At operations, Brightline West is expected to support about 800 permanent jobs in operations and maintenance, about 700 of those being full-time union jobs.

  • Partnering with Educational Institutions – Brightline West partners with educational institutions on providing career pathways that will pave the way to good paying administrative and professional jobs during construction and operations.
